What is Mobile Number Portability ?
Mobile Number Portability (MNP) is the ability for users to switch to a new mobile service provider, while retaining their existing mobile number.
How does Mobile Number Portability affect me as a user on WebSMS2u.com ?
As a user, you will find that sending messages to MNP numbers via our International Gateways will result in "lost" messages even though the log file shows that it has been delivered. The reason for this is because to the gateway, the messages have been successfully delivered to the "Originating Telco". However since the numbers have been ported to another provider, the transmission ends there and hence is not received by the actual new provider where the number currently resides.
How do I ensure Mobile Number Portability (MNP) mobile numbers get my messages ?
To ensure Mobile Number Portability (MNP) numbers get your messages, you will need to transmit your message via our Dipping Gateway.
How do I transmit to MNP via your Dipping Gateway ?
To transmit via the Dipping Gateway, you simple select the DIPPING GATEWAY instead of NORMAL GATEWAY while composing your message. Once you have done so, your message will be sent out via the Dipping Gateway automatically.
Can I send SMS to both MNP and Non-MNP numbers via the Dipping Gateway ?
Yes, you can send SMS to all numbers via the Dipping Gateway without the worry that NON-MNP numbers will not receive your messages. All messages will be delivered as per normal.
What is the requirement to send out SMS via the Dipping Gateway ?
The basic requirement is a WebSMS2u.com account and the respective Dipping Credits.
Can I use my NORMAL credits to send SMS out via the Dipping Gateway ?
No, you cannot use NORMAL Credits for the Dipping Gateway as DIPPPING Credits are required. Normal & Dipping Credits are treated differently.
How much do NORMAL & DIPPING credits cost ?
You may refer to the pricing by clicking here. Currently the pricing for both Normal & Dipping Credits differ.
Why do I have to pay extra for Dipping credits ?
The reason why Dipping credits cost slighly more than Normal credits is because this additional cost is charged by a 3-party clearing house as a service to the Malaysian mobile community to identify where mobile numbers have been ported to and where they currently reside. The dipping service comes from a clearing house called : Teras Gerak Aliran
Can I transfer Normal credits to Dipping credits & vice-versa ?
No, you cannot transfer Normal credits to Dipping credits to any other account or to yourself. This is because Normal & Dipping credits are treated differently and are not inter-changeable.
Am I able to use the scheduling & log function for MNP numbers ?
Yes, our system is fully intergrated. All messages sent out via NORMAL or DIPPING Gateway is captured by the same log file for easy reference. Scheduling is also performed seemlessly without requiring any specific user intervention.
